Cinderella Walks Home

I certainly destroyed any illusion
That I was ladylike.
I wonder what inspired me?
I took off one slipper, threw it to the prince,
And shouted, "Catch!"
And then, dancing and dodging, as everyone tried to stop me....
Now that it's over,
It was actually funny.
Ah, well.

The other slipper is hidden safely in my bosom.
And I do like walking barefoot in the moonlight.
Even if nothing happens to me now,
I've rediscovered the world outside my house.

How did I forget it existed?
